2019 Fishing Season Update

2019 Fishing Season Update

Spring is here and the temperatures are on the rise in Fort Walton Beach.   We are counting down the days until Red Snapper and Gag Grouper season starts, June 1st.  That’s when the summer fishing charter season really kicks off.  We had a fantastic spring with some beautiful catches of Scamp Grouper, Cobia, Vermillion Snapper, and Gray Triggerfish.  Scouted some spots and found monster Red Snapper and hefty Gag Grouper.  Can’t wait to get back there in June.   Triggerfish season is wrapping up on May 11th, so you have a few more days left is you want in on the action.   Our spring Amberjack season did not open this year due to quota restrictions.  However, we expect Amberjack to be open on August 1st through October 31st in the Gulf of Mexico just in time for the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo.  The summer fishing charter season is always exciting as the warming water brings in the King Mackerel, Cobia, and Mahi Mahi.  These pelagic fish will stay around through the Fall in Fort Walton Beach.  There are many species that remain open throughout the year.  These species include Vermillion Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Almaco Jacks, Red Porgy, Scamp Grouper (closes seaward of 20 fathoms 1Feb-Mar31) and King Mackerel.  Come out and enjoy a day on the water with us.  We recommend an 8 hour or more fishing excursion for those anglers wanting to bust a cooler.
